Second-generation star Bobby Duncum Jr. is best-remembered as a member of WCW’s faction, The West Texas Rednecks, the group that recorded the cult-classic song, “Rap is Crap.” Bobby Jr.’s WCW career was put on hold following a rotator cuff injury. This injury can be very painful as can the recovery process and some believe this led to Duncum becoming reliant on painkillers. In late January 2000, Duncan’s roommate discovered him dead. A New York Daily News story reported Duncan died from accidental overdose of the painkiller fentanyl (which can be more than 100 times stronger than morphine). Duncum did not have a prescription for the fentanyl and may have obtained it from a relative. He was 34.
