17. Kerry Von Erich – Age 33
Kerry would win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship instead of real-life brother David, but only have a short run due to NWA officials’ lack of faith in his dependability. Kerry’s known partying lifestyle nearly ended his life when he rode his motorcycle in shorts and nothing else, wiping out and nearly losing his foot. Doctors performed a medical miracle when they reattached his foot, but Von Erich’s rush to return to the ring led to his foot being amputated and fitted with a prosthetic. Kerry had a run in the WWF as Intercontinental Champion but a pending legal matter where he faced prison time saw him end his life on February 18, 1993 with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
