10. Shane Shamrock
Born Brian Stephen Howser, the independent star better known as “Irish Ironman” Shane Shamrock spent the majority of his pro grappling career in Maryland Championship Wrestling, holding the promotion’s Light Heavyweight Championship until the time of his death. On August 18, 1998, Shamrock was fatally shot during an altercation with a police officer. Shamrock was 23 years old. Following his death, the Light Heavyweight Championship was retired and in 1999, MCW held the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup, a competition involving some of the world’s best Light Heavyweight wrestlers.
