8. Jeanette Wolfe
Mildred Burke was the icon of women’s wrestling in the 1940’s, but by 1951, she was looking for a replacement. This led to her grooming 18-year-old Janet Boyer as her successor. Boyer began working as Jeanette Wolfe, but just six months later, she was dead. Wolfe was wrestling in Liverpool, England when she worked her first of two matches for the evening. She collapsed in the ring during her second match after complaining of a headache earlier. The cause of death was ruled as a cerebral hemorrhage.
