6. Ricky Lawless
While you may not have heard of Ricky Lawless (aka Medardo Jim “Jimmy” Leon Jr.), he was considered an excellent technician during his run during the 1980’s. Lawless trained a number of independent stars including Joey Maggs (with whom he teamed, pictured above as “Joey Knight”), Axl Rotten, and “Playboy” Bobby Starr. On November 30, 1988 Lawless was found shot to death. Police eventually determined he’d been shot by Raymond Michael Swartz, the husband of the woman Lawless had reportedly had an affair with. Lawless was only 28. The story gained notoriety in the May 1991 Hustler article, “Shotgun Justice: A Pro Wrestler’s Final Fall”.
